KAWANA donate car to Sunshine Coast charity SunnyKids

Any opportunity to give back to the community, KAWANA will take it.

In 2017, the team proudly donated a Toyota Yaris to Sunny Kids — a Sunshine Coast charity helping thousands of young children, teenagers, and families in need.

The car was professionally wrapped at the KAWANA head office on the Sunshine Coast, with a colourful SunnyKids-inspired graphic taking pride of place.
SunnyKids executive director Chris Turner said the car would provide thousands of hours of extra assistance to Sunshine Coast families.

“We will be able to see more families, visit more schools and attend more advocacy work thanks to the addition of another vehicle. This means more families will benefit from the work of SunnyKids, and we can continue to help those in need,” Chris said.

“At SunnyKids will strive for the whole community to work together, and that includes businesses and its employees on the Sunshine Coast. When all three groups work together, we can achieve so much more for our kids.”

In 2017, SunnyKids provided support to 400 families with 679 children – this equated to more than 13,100 hours of direct support to vulnerable children and their families.

The charity’s frontline services make up the bulk of its community support, including housing and homelessness, safe and nurturing relationships, access to good health care, education and mentoring.

KAWANA director Shane Moroney said supporting a Sunshine Coast children’s charity was a project close to his heart. “We are so proud to be a supporter of SunnyKids and to assist in their incredible community work on the Sunshine Coast,” he said.  “I am thankful for this opportunity to give back and to hear about the hundreds of kids who benefit from the SunnyKids services.”
